New Carlisle – Dermot Meyer, 89, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Miller’s Merry Manor in New Carlisle, Indiana. Derm was born on August 7, 1924 in Mill Creek, Indiana, to the late Leslie and Edna (McKesson) Meyer. He was a lifelong area resident. On March 3, 1950, in New Carlisle, he married the former Jennie Blendeman, who preceded him in death on July 18, 2009. Derm is survived by their only child Kimberly (Mark) Knowlton of New Carlisle and his two grandsons, Samuel Zucker of Fort Worth, Texas and Evan Knowlton of New Carlisle. He taught these boys many great “life” lessons. He loved Sam and Evan more than anything in this world. Derm was a master craftsman/woodworker. He owned and operated Meyer’s Wood Shop for many years, making heirloom quality pieces, not only for his family but numerous others. Derm spent many years working on and repairing boats along Lake Michigan. He was such a perfectionist! The family would like to thank the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor for the wonderful care they have always given to Derm and Jennie and to us. Your sincere kindness will never be forgotten.
