SEBRING – Derl B. Smith, age 83, of Sebring passed away at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, 2017 in his home. He was born in Erbacon, WV on July 14, 1933, son of Norva and Flora (Williams) Smith.
Derl was employed as a truck repairman for 20 years at General Motors in Lordstown.
He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army with 20 years of service as a maintenance truck foreman. He attended Kent State University for two years. He was a life member and past Commander of the Salem Amvets Post 45.
He was preceded in death by two children, Deborah Kay Fike and Lewis Keith Smith; four sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife Carol (Morrison) Smith whom he married August 6, 1979; four sons Jerry Allen Smith of Beloit, Stephen Daryl Smith of Salem, Waid Frederick Smith of Sebring, Dwight Edgar Smith of Sebring; one daughter Lisa Dawn Smith of Alliance; a sister Joann Hull, from Weston, WV; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
