Denny Koppen, age 72, of Spirit Lake, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2014, at his home in Spirit Lake. He was born on March 7, 1942, in Spirit Lake, to Lester and Neva (Fike) Koppen.
Denny graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1960. He was united in marriage to Sherry Ericksen on January 8, 1963, in Spirit Lake. Denny worked for the Des Moines Register as a District Manager for twenty years. He had a strong interest for antiques all of his life. In 1990, he owned and operated the Antique Mall in the Antlers Hotel for many years.
Denny enjoyed spending his spare time antique collecting, carving and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes. His true passion was his children and grandchildren! Denny is survived by his children, Leslie Pavelko, and her husband, Clay of Spirit Lake, and their daughter, Cortney, and Ned Koppen, and his wife, Kim of Fairmont, Minnesota, and their sons, John and Bailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Sherry.
