Dennis M. “Denny” Hartman, 78, of Naples, FL (formerly of South Bend) passed away after an extended illness on Saturday June 11, 2022. He was born on December 5, 1943, in South Bend, to the late Francis W. “Mike” and Aileen (Luther) Hartman who preceded him in death. Also preceding him in death, his step-mother Joy (Fucsik) Hartman. On December 1, 1991 he married Janet K. Garvin, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Leanne J. Jensen of South Bend and Andrew M. Hartman, a sister, Penda L. Parrish of Buloxi, MS, a brother, Mark C. Clark of LaPorte, IN, and several grandchildren.
Denny was a 1962 graduate of Washington Clay High School and attended Indiana University. He was a fifth generation business owner in the South  Bend community, dating back to 1852 when his great-grandfather moved to South Bend along with the Studebaker Brothers.  After a short stint in the advertising profession, Denny spent his entire career in the material handling industry.  In 1982, he formed Handling Technologies, Inc. After developing and patenting a unique warehouse storage system in 1994, he formed Twinlode Rack Systems to market the products globally. Later, the company became Twinlode Corporation where he worked as Chairman of the Board.
Denny served on many advisory boards and dealer counsels in the material handling and logistics industries. He formally served on the boards of Coachman Auto Club, St. Joseph County Scholarship Foundation and Studebaker Museum. Denny served as Chairman of the Board for the Summit Club.  He was active in the Goose and Duck Club as well as many car clubs.
Denny enjoyed world wide travel, boating and driving his super fast and fun cars. He enjoyed socializing with his many friends and colleagues. Denny loved God and Jesus, his loving wife has been by his side. He wants to be remembered by his smile.
