Dennis George Radcliffe, age 61, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at BID-Plymouth, after a lengthy illness. Born in Plymouth on June 23, 1959, Dennis was the beloved son of the late George W. and Claire (Thurber) Radcliffe. He was the cherished brother of Stephen Radcliffe and his wife, Nancy, of Plymouth, Sharon Conroy and her husband David of Kingston and Debra Woolfrey and her husband Rick of Somerset. Dennis was also a fun-loving uncle and great uncle to several nieces and nephews who adored him.Dennis lived and enjoyed time at home with his family for most of his life before transitioning to group homes with both REACH, Inc., and more recently, Road to Responsibility, Inc. His mother, a founding member of the Greater Plymouth Association for Retarded Citizens, was a pioneer in helping to establish a full school day for the retarded in the years before Chapter 766, which mandated services for handicapped children. As a result of his mother’s efforts, Dennis was able to attend Plymouth Public Schools for a number of years. From there, he moved on to RTR workshops, where he participated in work and recreational activities. He delighted in getting a weekly paycheck!Dennis was a very sociable, funny, and loving individual who made friends wherever he went. He loved being with his family, and his roommates and staff, and was an absolute joy to be around. He could brighten up the day in a flash with his silly antics. Snow White spotted him during a parade in Disney World, and planted a giant kiss on his cheek! Dennis was also a proud participant in Special Olympics. Some of his favorite pastimes included cuddling with Tie-Tie, his cat, acting out a Super Hero, playing Nintendo or his guitar, watching classic tv shows, completing See-a-Word books, and coloring pictures to give away to others. Dennis was dearly loved by family and friends throughout his life. He will continue to bless all of our hearts forever.
