Dennis G. Collins, 80 of Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts, formerly of Longmeadow Massachusetts passed away peacefully at his home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Boston, Massachusetts Dennis grew up in Somerset Massachusetts. He was the youngest of four children, brothers Jack of Dighton, James of Somerset and predeceased sister Kathleen. He was an all star athlete, captain of four sports. He is in the Somerset High School Hall of fame for his athletic achievements. Known for his disarming personality and shining Irish blue eyes Dennis made everyone he met feel at home and welcome. In his later years his signature thumbs up and beautiful smile were constants to all. Dennis worked for Friendly Ice Cream Corporation for 35 years. He started as a dishwasher and worked his way up to Director of Restaurant Openings. Once retired Dennis could be found on the golf course. He was very proud of the league he formed at White Cliffs Country Club, Tuesday’s Tulips. He insisted on wearing his Tulips hat constantly. He has his original hat with him today. Beyond golf the most important part of his life was his family. He was so proud and told anyone that would listen about an achievement or a story about his family. He left a strong legacy and showed his children and grandchildren that love isn’t conditional, a father is a protector and biggest supporter, a grandfather is a hero, and a husband is for life. Dennis is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dolores Pinciak Collins; daughter Shannon Collins of Plymouth; Grandchildren Casey Lundholm, Rowan Collins, Liam Collins, Ryan Lundholm, Faye Collins; and daughter-in-law Tracey Ann Collins. He is predeceased by his son, Dr. Gregory Andrew Collins, MD. The two of them are reunited enjoying a round of perfect golf and smiling at us all.
