Denise G. Simmons-Scercy, 62, of Neptune, New Jersey passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Liberty Royal Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, Tinton Falls, New Jersey.  She was born on August 8, 1952 in Jersey City, NJ.

She attended public schools in Atlanta, Georgia and Asbury Park, New Jersey.  “Dee Dee”, as she was affectionately known, graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1970, attended Brookdale College, and received a certificate in Business Administration.

Her previous employment included AT&T, Piscataway, New Jersey, Lowes Theater, East Brunswick, New Jersey, and many other jobs during her lifetime. Since 2013, she was employed at Nathan’s in Jersey Premium Outlets, Tinton Falls, New Jersey, where she became an Assistant Manager, in 2014.

“Tweety”, as she was often called, enjoyed shopping, movie going, and dining out.  She was an avid reader and highly favored novels by author James Paterson.  Her experience with professional grooming, care, and teaching obedience to puppies that eventually went on to work with the Department of Defense held a special place in her heart.

Denise was predeceased by her father, David Jones, Sr. (1998); two sisters, Deborah Lee (1994), and Danielle Coleman (2015); three half-brothers, David Jones, Jr. (1999), Leonard “Poppy” Jones (2014), and Edward Jones (2006).

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Estelle Coleman of Neptune, New Jersey; her devoted sister, Diane L. Shelton, Asbury Park, New Jersey; loving siblings, Dakeem (Trish) Coleman, Norfolk, Virginia, Donna Simmons-Davis,  Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Jones, Eatontown, New Jersey, Cecilia Jones-Ramseur (Teddy), Asbury Park, New Jersey, and Celeste Jones-White (Hose), Ohio; two beloved nieces, Tracy Simmons, Asbury Park, New Jersey, and Tasha Lee, Neptune City, New Jersey; three great nieces,  Nirel Simmons, Asbury Park, New Jersey, Nyrah & Nasiah Simmons,  Neptune, New Jersey; great nephew, Amir Lee, Neptune City, New Jersey; a loving friend, Rodney  Gates, Asbury Park, New Jersey; and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
