Demetrios (Jimmy) Houndris, 73, of Stamford, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015. He was the beloved husband of the late Athanasia Houndris. Born and raised in Serveika, Greece, he lived in Germany for a short time before making his permanent residence in Stamford, where he was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Jimmy was a long-time employee of Pitney-Bowes. After retirement, he ran Jimmy’s Tasty Food Truck, then proudly assumed a post as a local crossing guard. Jimmy will always be remembered as a hard-working, avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and grandchildren. Jimmy is predeceased by his brother Panagiotis Houndris in Greece. He is survived by his son Efstathios Houndris of Enfield, his daughter and son-in-law Georgia and Vasilios Savvidis of Newington, four loving grandchildren: Efstathios, Lambrini, Demetri and Athanasios Savvidis, his brother Giannis Houndris in Greece, his two sisters Georgia Pfiefer in Germany and Fay Bickos of Sidney, NY, and countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.
