Deloris E.
Deloris was born November 19, 1925 to Anton and Bernice (LeSavage) Miskowski. She grew up on a farm and was an only child. She developed a love of reading at an early age. When the work was done, they often found her hiding with a book in her hand. She was somewhat spoiled, recalling that she had a sweater in every color! When she was growing up, Christmas on the farm was a special time and she loved celebrating Christmas in a big way all of her life.
Deloris graduated from Rudolph High School where she met Gerald Hentges. They were married at Camp Edwards in Falmouth, Massachusetts on September 16, 1943. Gerry was sent to the European Theatre in World War II. Gerry and Deloris returned to central Wisconsin where the first of six daughters was born.
Deloris centered her life around “her girls” and they were her pride and joy. The family home was built in 1954 across the street from St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the church played an important role in family life. Her girls would often walk home for a homemade lunch. Polka music was played on the radio on Sundays and there was dancing in the kitchen!
True to her Polish upbringing, the door to her home was always open. Visitors rarely left hungry or empty handed. Grandma Roses always had time to listen, unassuming advice to give, and a treat or two for the grandchildren.
Her unwavering faith in God was her strength. She was a member of the Third Order of Franciscans which practice the lessons St. Francis taught concerning prayer, humility, peacemaking, and charity. She was a member of the St. Vincent Rosary group and she prayed for many family members and friends.
Deloris was an avid reader and loved going to the library, riding her bike, baking apple pies, and keeping her family together. She kept an upbeat positive attitude and she expressed her gratitude often.
She is survived by her children: Geri North, Jackie Arnold, Kathy (Dale) Pierce, Kim Hentges, and Colette (Tom) Altmann; grandchildren: Jay (Joanne) North, Jodie (Ron) Leiser, Jamie (Kerry Miltmore) North, Chris (Laura) North, Beth (Ryan) Iversen, Brandee (Alberto) Zavala, Tayler (Tom Williams) Denniston, Trevor (Stacie) Denniston, Greg Arnold, Tim (Amber) Arnold, Lindsey (Adam) Petasek, Shane (Angie) Steltenpohl, Nathan (Hollie) Steltenpohl, Jordan (Tara) Pierce, Mitch (Ryleigh Allcox) Altmann, Morgan Altmann, and Matthew (Prita Narayan) Altmann; 30 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; daughter, Colleen Denniston; sons-in-law, Harry North and Tom Arnold; and granddaughter, Kelly Walkowiak.
Memorials may be designated to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
