Delores A. McManama, better known to her family and friends, as “Demac” or “Dee”, was born to George McManama and Florence Hoffer on July 3rd, 1930 in St. Cloud, Mn.. She was one of four siblings; Francis, Jerome and Mary Alice. She was raised in both Sauk Rapids, Mn. and Madison, Wisconsin. She practiced Catholicism and

attended the St. Gabriel School of Nursing in Little Falls, Mn. from 1951-1954. Delores continued her education at the University of Minnesota and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and began working in Rochester, Mn.

She later relocated to Washington, D.C. and attended The Catholic University, where she received her Master’s Degree in Science of Nursing.

Delores was an instructor for 10 years at the University of Maryland Baltimore School of Nursing, teaching Psychiatric Nursing and specializing in group studies.

She was then employed at the State of Maryland, PG County Dept. of Mental Health, where she retired after 20+ years.

After retirement, Delores volunteered as a tutor in her home to teach immigrants of all ages how to read and write. She then went on to volunteer for Holy Cross Hospice.

Delores loved to travel! In her 30’s, she spent 3 months in the Philippines with the “World Health Organization”, evaluating their psychiatric facilities. She also spent a Summer in Ireland teaching students group therapy.

Dee enjoyed Cross-Country Skiing and attending sporting events with her girlfriends and especially her Godchildren: Heather, Michael and Lil’ Bry. She was an avid Terps and Redskin’s fan.

Demac loved her family and was especially close to her brother, Jerome “Jerry”, who preceded her in death in Dec., 2014. She was extremely close to her Goddaughter, Heather and helped her look after her son, “Bry”. Demac loved to listen to people and was a great confidant. She was a hardworking, caring, selfless human being, who enjoyed people and lived life to the fullest.

Delores died on Nov. 26th, Thanksgiving, in her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. The world has lost a precious woman, but Heaven has gained a very special angel.
