Della Wingfield Barbour, 96, of 3959 Snow Creek Rd., Martinsville died Friday, March 18, 2011 at Raleigh Court Health Care in Roanoke. Born April 19, 1914 in Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Otis Wingfield and Bessie Davis Wingfield. Mrs. Barbour was the wife of the late Henry Wilson Barbour and was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Jarrett Lunsford, two sisters, Fairy Smith and Henrietta Cooper and by three brothers, Fred Wingfield, Lewis Wingfield and Russell Wingfield. Mrs. Barbour was a member of Snow Creek Christian Church where she was very active in her church. She was a member of CWF and the Eastern Star. She had worked as a seamstress at Lacy’s for 15 years before becoming a private duty CNA for 25 years before retirement. Surviving are three daughters, Catherine Barbour Nichols of Roanoke, JoAnne Griffin and husband Danny Griffin of High Point, NC and Dottie Barbour Webb and husband Ron Webb of Roanoke; a son, Billy R. Barbour of the home; two sisters, Lottie Eanes of Martinsville and Nancy W. Wingfield of Snow Creek. Also surviving are six grandchildren Candi Lynn Acuff and husband Jim, James Michael Nichols, Leigh Reynolds and husband Barton, David Jarrett and wife Linda, Dennis Worley and wife Gaytha , and Daniel Worley and wife Jennifer Worley; a step-granddaughter, Sarah Webb; five great-grandchildren, Cale, Zachary and Claire Worley and Taylor and Alex Jarrett and by numerous step-great-grandchildren.
