Dee Charles DC Lawson went to our Lord and Savior on March 18, 2012, in Hobbs, NM. Dee was born on July 7, 1923 in Sterling, OK to Nathan and Bessie Lawson. He attended high school in Denver City and Sundown, TX. His high school class graduated early due to the boys being drafted into service for World War II. Dee served in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division. He participated in several combat jumps including DDay in Normandy and Operation Market Garden in Holland. He was in the Battle for the Ardennes. Dee was a member of the unit that made a 26,000 foot demonstration parachute jump while in England. During the war he was awarded three 3 Bronze Stars, The Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct and European Theater of Operation Medals.
Dee worked for the Continental Carbon Co., the Western Co. and B G Transportation Co. He was an avid sports participant and enthusiastic fan of all sports with his favorites being baseball and football. He loved to go deer and bird hunting, fishing and later in life he took up golf.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister Callie, his wife of 60 years Margie Lawson and son Dee Lynn Lawson.
He is survived by three children a son Jesse K. Lawson and wife Betty of Midland, TX, daughter Candice F. Forga and husband Terry of Humble, TX and a son Randy T. Lawson and wife Diann of Hobbs, NM. Seven grandchildren, Jesse Daniel Lawson, Lynn Lawson, Andrea Schlueter and husband Josh, Kimberly Farr and husband Jack, Courtney Hescht and husband Scott, Danny Miller and Kimberly Mahan and husband Jamy. Five great grandchildren, Jesse Nathaniel Schlueter, Zane Isaac Hescht, Daxton Luke Hescht, Alexander Dean Mahan and Michael David Mahan.
