January 13, 1953 – May 9, 2018
Deborah Marie Wichlep, 65, of Boerne, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, surrounded by family and friends.
Debbie was born January 13, 1953 in Fulda, Germany to Col. Bernard J. and Dorothy Mae (Regini) Wichlep. She completed her Master’s degree at Our Lady of the Lake University. She was at one time on a precision ice skating team. She enjoyed gardening, swimming, fishing, and walking up and down the beach prospecting. She also owned several sports cars and enjoyed driving them immensely.
Debbie retired from the San Antonio Police Department as a Detective Investigator in the Crime Scene Unit after 33 years of service. Her passion for law enforcement never stopped, and she invented a ground-breaking method for the detection of latent fingerprints applied postmortem.
Debbie is survived by her wife, Linda Coutts; her sister, Barbara Hodson (By); her cousin, Judy Williams; her god-daughter, Sunshine Olivarez; and many other beloved family members and friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, and by her brother, Chris Wichlep.
The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Alamo Hospice for their awesome work. Special gratitude goes as well to Debbie’s “sisters in blue” for taking care of the reception at the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church, 205 E James Street, Boerne, TX 78006, following Debbie’s committal service.
