On the morning of August 29th, 2015, Debbie passed away after a two year battle with ALS; while at home in the care of her loving husband, Mike Lutman. She was 60 years old.
Debbie was born on June 26th, 1955 at Newnan Hospital in Newnan, GA. She is the eldest child and oldest daughter of Pete and Barbara McCullough.
Debbie as a young girl was adventurous, fearless and brave. One such adventure is that of her at the young age of 10 taking younger siblings on car rides around town. As Debbie grew, that same fearlessness grew with her.
As a teen and young woman, Debbie was a member of the Beta Club, Student Council, French and Spanish Clubs, voted Ms. Senior, on the West Georgia College Dean’s List, and an accomplished artist. Debbie was a social butterfly with many friends every where she went. Her personality was magnetic.
Debbie continued her adventurous life well beyond her early years. She was passionate beyond words for anything related to the ocean. She loved snorkeling, scuba diving, scavenging for sharks teeth and shells, and was an accomplished sailor. With her husband, Mike, they purchased a sail boat and set out to live their dreams next to the waves.
Debbie had two green thumbs. Her daughters said that if she planted a tire, she could grow a car. She loved wildlife and plants so much that she started and ran a successful business called Art Forms Gardening for many years. At the very end, no matter the work, she was adamant about continuing to share that gift with the world.
Above all of her wonderful qualities, Debbie loved her family. She loved to cook massive meals for everyone and insisted on always cooking out with the grill and gathering with family. She also firmly believed that family was priority and loved hers beyond all boundaries.
Debbie is preceded in death by James and Everett Addy and Howard and Ruth McCullough.
Debbie is survived by her parents, Pete and Barbara McCullough, husband Mike Lutman, bother Lee McCullough, sister Allison Orr, daughters Stephanie Baddour, Wendolyn Cay Schmitt, Liza Kimberly Schmitt, and Sarah Michelle Loftin, 8 Grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
