Dean Lyle Fenimore (of Superior, Nebraska) the son of James Lyle and Mildred G. Thompson Fenimore was born October 9, 1923 in Superior, Nebraska.  He passed away on Friday July 21, 2017 at Bryan East LGH in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 93 years. After attending Superior Public Schools he graduated from Superior High School with the class of 1941.

Shortly after graduation Dean moved to live with family members in the Seattle, WA area where he worked for the Boeing Air Craft Company building the airplanes that would become B-17 Bombers in World War II.  He quit this job in June of 1942 and enlisted in the US Army Air Corps.  He spent the war years stationed on an air base located north of London, England.  Ironically Dean was a crew chief overseeing the loading of bombs & armament on B-17’s.

Shortly after returning home after the war he took a job with a civilian construction company, whose job was to help rebuild the Island of Guam after it was nearly destroyed by American bombing during the war.  Dean signed up for 1 year term and returning to Superior after the year was up.

Dean worked for the Ideal Cement Co. for a short while before getting on full time with the US Postal Office carrying mail in Superior.  He held this job for nearly 30 years.

Dean was united in marriage to Carol Tyler on September 2, 1948 at the Methodist Parsonage in Superior, Nebraska.  The union was blessed with the birth of two sons: James L. and Michael D.  An infant daughter was lost at birth.

Dean thoroughly enjoyed going for drives and was happiest while camping.  Dean and Carol were members of the Excel Camping Club of Nebraska and looked forward to their bi-annual campouts.  He was also a life member of the Superior VFW Post #3355 and the American Legion Post #103 both of Superior, NE.,  He had also been a member of the Superior Volunteer Fire Dept. for 27 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dana Fenimore, sister Donis Olena and his wife of 65 years, Carol.

Survivors include his sons: James L. Fenimore and Michael D. Fenimore both of Superior, NE; two grandchildren: Taylor Fenimore of Roanoke, TX; and Ross Fenimore and wife Brandy of Omaha, NE; 3 great grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
