Dean Grant Marshall, born February 10th, 1931 in Trego County in Kansas, died in Fremont County in Colorado on October 20, 2015 at the age of 84. He was born to Walter Grant and Susanna Laura (Hamm) Marshall. He started his schooling in Denver and Aurora, Colorado and finished 3rd through 12th grades in Cañon City, Colorado. He graduated in 1949 from Cañon City High School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps that same year. Dean served almost 4 years during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1953. He married Barbara Ann Saunders and moved back to his hometown of Cañon City. He worked for Portland Cement and then Southwestern Transportation as a truck driver. In 1956, he went to work for the Colorado State Prison. He retired after 30 years with the rank of Major. Dean and his wife, Barbara, had 4 children, two boys and two girls. He was married for 45 years when his wife died in 1997. He is survived by his 4 children: Chip (Donna) Marshall, Suzie (Terry) Veatch, Julie (Keith) Roberts, and Wayne (Debbie) Marshall. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Laramie (Robert) Hayden. He is survived by 7 grandchildren: Heath (Tonia) Marshall, Casey (Carrie) Veatch, Amy (Levi) Espinoza, Levi (Marina) Roberts, Mandy (Trent) Gordon, Dustin (Melissa) Marshall, and Tanner (Jackie) Marshall; 2 step-grandchildren: Taryn Norvell, and Kristin (Chad) Barber; and 15 great grandchildren: Dawn F. Hayden, Dean G. Marshall, Leo Veatch, Dot Veatch, Noah Espinoza, Ellee Espinoza, Tristan Roberts, Tory Roberts, Dylan Roberts, Bella Roberts, Lukas Roberts, Tate Marshall, Pyper Marshall, Hagen Marshall, and Asher Marshall; and 6 step-great grandchildren: Destiny, Cadence, Seth, Dorian, Lincoln, and Alex.
