Deacon Daniel Junious Fountain, 87, of Middletown, peacefully and joyfully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 6, 2009 at 11:20am surrounded by his loving family.
Deacon Fountain was born to the late Daniel J. and Martha (Smith) Fountain, Sr. in Hanover County, VA. As a young man he relocated to Connecticut in 1944 to get a better paying job to help support his mother and his sisters and brothers that were still in Virginia. Deacon Fountain retired from New Departure/General Motors in Bristol in 1985. Many people came to know him in 1962, when Deacon Fountain became a business man by selling fish from his truck and then from his store.
He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife, Ruth R. Fountain, children, Nathaniel J. (Gladys) Fountain Sr., Lorraine F. (Charles) Davis, Emmajean Jenkins, Patricia A. (Henry) Duncan of Scranton, SC , David W. (Jacqueline) Fountain , Eddie-Mae (Richard) Roulhac and Blanche-Mae (Lenwood) Harrell.
He also leaves cherished memories for a sister, Alma (James) Doer, two brothers, Robert and John (Annette) Fountain Sr. a brother in law, Curtis Cockfield, sisters in law, Dorothy Fountain, Julie Risby, Brenda (Joe) Spikes, Thelma Chatfield, Alma Caffee, thirty –five grandchildren, seventy great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Daniel was predeceased by his son, Walter Lee Fountain, brothers Basiel and Muriel Fountain, sisters, Annie-Mae Fountain, Martha Smith, Gladys Preston, Emily Johnson and Pearl Cockfield, sisters in law, Mary Fountain and Lucille Hughes, son in law, Melvin Jenkins, grandchildren, Danielle Fountain, Nathaniel J. Fountain Jr., Shanika Wiggins, Shakira Duncan and Eric Moore.
