Dawn Marie Winters AKA Shorty was born on May 24, 1972 to Carla Jean Bennett and Donnie Winters.  Dawn was 49 at the time of her death on February 6, 2022. She was a resident of Chicago, Illinois during her last three years here on Earth. 

Dawn attended School 53, Lawrence Central High School, and Arlington High School. Later on in life, she obtained her GED.

Dawn was a devout Christian and accepted Christ at an early age.

Dawn was a free spirit. She lived her life on her OWN terms and was very well known across the city of Indianapolis in many neighborhoods. She had a spark for life and brought joy to all the people she encountered. She loved talking on the phone to her friends and family and made sure she stayed in touch. She was also very vocal with telling everybody how much they were loved. Dawn absolutely loved the tv show, My 600 Pound Life and she watched it everyday. She loved food, cooking, listening to music, dancing, getting pretty, all her nieces and nephews, and just people in general. 

Dawn was preceded in death by her father: Donnie Winters, brother: Karlin Eugene Winters (KE), sisters: Erika Lynne Thornton and Tasha Lynn Winters, great-grandparents: Willie Jenkins and Silas Jenkins, grandmother: Katherine Wooden and grandfathers: John Dotson and Eddie Winters. 

Dawn Marie Winters leaves to mourn her mother: Carla Jean Bennett, as well as her two sisters: Chaz Hutcherson and Summer Johnson, her brother: Donald Harris Sr, her grandmother: Barbara Hampton and host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who will miss her tremendously.
