Passed away, late Wednesday afternoon, November 25, 2015 at Bronson Hospital following a 32 year battle with leukemia. He was born on August 9, 1931 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late George and Beulah (Castor) Simmons. Dave was a 1948 graduate of Climax-Scotts High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict.

On February 25, 1956, Dave was united in marriage to Doris A. Kuiper. He was employed by Eaton Corp for 20 years and then Simpson Paper Co for 15 years until his retirement in 2000. Dave loved the outdoors. He enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, hunting and fishing. Dave loved to relax with good conversation over a cold Diet Coke. He was a very no-nonsense, hardworking, and was loving to everyone that had the pleasure of knowing him.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Doris Simmons; their two children, Doug (Jennifer Waterman) Simmons of Schoolcraft and Deb (Ron) Bailey of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Dustin Simmons, Stephanie (Dan) Baugher and Jamie Bailey; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Arlene) Simmons of Kalamazoo and Jack (Sharon) Simmons of Cadillac; sister, Joan (Frank) Murray of Galesburg; and many nieces and nephews.
