Dave was born the son of Peter and Caroline LaGasse Oosterling in Rochester, New York on September 20, 1936. He retired from the Newark Central Schools where he worked in the maintenance department. At one time he worked for Newark Hospital.

Dave was a member of the Newark American Veterans Support Organization (AVSO). He enjoyed working in the yard, with wood and electrical wiring. He was a “Jack of all trade and master of none”.

Dave is survived by his wife Gene Grant Oosterling; children Linda (Paul) Fowler of Lyons, Timothy Oosterling and his friend Charmane of Clyde, Thomas (Kay) Oosterling of Newark and Brenda Oosterling of Newark; grandchildren Kelli, Jonathan, Grant and Jacob; step-grandson Paul Bowler; sister Jeannette (Harold) Glerum of Newark; sister-in-law Shirley Oosterling of Lyons; many nieces, nephews and a great great niece.

Dave was predeceased by his brother Fred on May 2, 1987.
