David Wayne Hayes, age 62, of Salem, died at 7:39 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Parma Medical Center in Parma, Ohio. He was born August 12, 1954 in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of the late Loren Delbert and Arlene (Gooch) Hayes.
David retired from the Maintenance Department of SCI in Columbiana, where he had worked for 12 years. He had previously worked in the coal strip mines. David was a graduate of Wellsville High School and was an avid fisherman.
His wife, Karen (Davis) Hayes, whom he married September 19, 1973, survives him along with two sons, Michael Davis of Columbiana and Christopher (Marsha) Hayes of Columbiana; three brothers, Randy Hayes of Lisbon, Dennis Hayes of Lisbon and Donald Hayes of Uhrichsville, Ohio; two grandchildren, Amanda and Jacob Davis; and two step grandchildren, Scot Boyer and Alexander Eaton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy and Loren “Butch” Hayes; a nephew, Joshua Hayes; and his loving dog, Sparky.
