David Ray Johnson, Sr., 78, of Prince George died on Friday, March 15, 2024 at his home. Born October 8, 1945, he was the son of the late Norris Lasley and Roberta Center Johnson, and was also preceded in death by his brother, Norris K. “Butch” Johnson.
He was a 1967 VMI graduate. David was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. After his service, he earned his law degree from William & Mary Law School. Mr. Johnson was a corporate attorney with the Richmond, VA law firm, Williams Mullen for 30 years, during which time he represented several of the firm’s larger clients in litigation as well as business matters. He was married for 57 years to Beverly Terrell Stanard. The great loves of his life were Jesus Christ, his wife Beverly, his children and their spouses, his grandchildren, his brother and sister and their spouses, and his fellow Christian believers.
David is survived by his wife, Beverly Stanard Johnson; son, David R. Johnson, Jr. (Lori); daughter, Kimberlyn Stevenson (Andy); three grandchildren, Charlotte Johnson, Mel Stevenson and Harry Stevenson; sisters, Peggy Biser (Mike), Sally Johnson; sister-in-law, Gini Johnson; and other extended family members.
Mr. Johnson wishes to thank the doctors and other medical staff at Richmond VA Medical Center for the excellent treatment they provided him for more than 10 years.
