Mr. David Lewis Kite of Dunnellon, FL, formerly of Johnson City, TN, died peacefully Thursday, January 16, at home. He was born in Campbell County, TN on December 11, 1933. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Judith Cramer Kite, daughters Dr. Kathryn French (Ken) and Karen Kite; siblings Charles Kite, Lucille Dossett, and Anne Smith (C.B.); and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a graduate of Campbell County schools, then served in the Marine Corps and was a graduate of the University of TN. He served the state of Tennessee for over 30 years, 21 of those at East Tenn State University (ETSU), retiring as associate vice-president for administration and finance.

At ETSU, Mr. Kite always put the students first and was known for his integrity, generosity and his easy laugh. While at the university, it was noted that he treated all people equally and would do something for a student just as quickly as for the University president.

A quote that describes him: There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn’t mind who gets the credit.
