David Lee Kemper died at the age of 62 due to lung cancer. He was born April 3, 1958 in Terra Haute, IN to parents Howard and Marion Kemper.

He is survived by sons Mark and Matthew Kemper, a brother John Kemper, a sister-in-law Sharon F. Kemper, a niece Jan M. Kemper, and a nephew Jonathon B. Kemper.

David grew up in New Albany, IN, a record setting member of the swim team in high school and college. He graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Accounting. After his degree, David moved to the Chicago area, starting his long and dedicated career with the Boy Scouts of America.

Through his many years serving the volunteers in scouting councils in Charleston, WV; Appleton, WI, Pittsburgh, PA, and Boise, ID. David was a strong believer in the work of Scouting and the many benefits it brings to the communities served by locally controlled and managed councils. Through his career he repeatedly increased the financial health of his local council, while growing membership and dramatically improving quality of program. As all good scouts strive to do, he left it better then he found it.

David Kemper passed away April 27, 2020 at the age of 62. His last two years were a fight against lung cancer, though it was spent well and on his terms.
David and his wife at the time, raised two sons, Mark and Matthew, who have earned their Eagle Scout Award, the highest and most respected award in the scouting program. The family enjoyed camping, sailing, kayaking, skiing, target shooting, and model railroading. David was very dedicated to his working with the Boy Scouts and ensuring his family was well provided for while being modest and responsible, always thinking of others first.
