David Kent Buhlig Sr., 76, of Meredosia, IL died Wednesday evening Dec. 2, 2020, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born Oct. 4, 1944 in Jacksonville, the son of Donald and Laura (Jones) Buhlig Sr. He married Virginia “Patsy” Newman Feb. 9, 1970, in Meredosia.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy; his son, David (wife, Dawn) K. Buhlig Jr. of Meredosia and daughter Katrina G. Buhlig of Champaign; three grandchildren, Candace Vortman of Winchester, Shelbie (husband, Daniel) Flath of Versailles, and Jacob Buhlig of Meredosia; three great-grandchildren William, Maisynn and Myles; along with many nieces and nephews; one sister, Judy (husband, Curt) Gant of Meredosia; and one brother, Donald “Donnie Bob” (wife, Madeline) Buhlig Jr. of Meredosia. He was proceeded in death by his parents; and one brother Michael Buhlig.

David served in the U.S. Navy from 1965-1969. He retired from Ameren CIPS and then went to work for Burrus Seed Farms driving a truck for 10 years. He loved God and was a devoted member of Faith Tabernacle Church, where he served as a Deacon. He truly loved animals and will be dearly missed by his cat, Kitty.

Most of all David loved spending time with his best friend and wife working on creations for Pat & Ds Funky Finds. They spent many days “junking” together and living life to the fullest.

David was a hard-working, generous and loving man to all who knew him. His smile was contagious, and he will be missed by many.
