David J. Becker, 52, of Three Oaks, Michigan died Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013 in Chicago after a hard fought battle with cancer. David was born September 22, 1960, the only son and middle child of Julian and Betty (Schwark) Becker. He graduated from River Valley High School in 1978. Some called him “Cowboy” for his love of ponies, horses, goats, and for his rugged lifestyle.
David was competitive, playing darts, cards, softball, paintball, horseshoes, and bag toss. He coached Little League and umpired. David enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed cooking and hosted the family reunion and hog roast. He could cut a rug when dancing. David, having the perfect voice and personality for it, served as Auctioneer for many charitable causes. He was a farm property manager and cared for the Higgenbottom children. He was a Jack-of-all-trades, doing whatever it took to make a buck. David was a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 204.
Survivors include his son Darrell Becker (Rebecca Hotwagner), parents Julian and Betty; sisters, Brenda (Robert) Zeiger and Karen Cummings (Terry James) all of Three Oaks, nephew Brandon (Candice) Cummings, close friend and confidant, Debbie Staples, step daughter Dana Snelling of New Buffalo and step grandchild Jarek; and so many friends and relatives.
