David G. Day, 84, of LaSalle, passed away Monday, March 27, 2017 at IVCH in Peru.

Mr. Day was born on September 12, 1932 in Putnam County to Olen and Elsie Day. He married Elaine Lodi on October 13, 1956 in St. Patrick’s Church in LaSalle. He served in the US Army from 1951-1953 and also served in the Army reserves from 1953-1961.

David worked for Standard Oil in Peru as a truck driver and later drove for several businesses. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in LaSalle, past Exalted Ruler for the LaSalle Elks Club, member of the Peru Eagles Club, Oglesby Elks Club and the Putnam, Tiskilwa and Magnolia Historical Society. He was involved with the Boy Scouts and a volunteer as a Red Coat for IVCH in Peru for 20 years.

David enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed reading, playing euchre and meeting new people.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine of LaSalle; his two children, Steve (Mary) Day of Streator and Cheryl (Bill) Lipka of Spring Valley; four grandchildren, Virginia (Ryan) Mui, Hollie Day, Jacob Day and Bradley (Sara) Hauger; three brothers, Charles Day of Dixon, Benjamin Day of McNabb and Thom Day of Chicago; and one sister, Elizabeth Steinwachs of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Tony Day.
