David E. Laylon, 74, of 798 West Edwin Street, died Saturday, February 26, 2011, at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Dave and his wife, the former Martha L. Hovenstine, observed their 36th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2010.

Dave retired in 1998 after 20 years with Beacon Containers. He was an Army and Navy veteran of the Korean War, a member of Pine Street United Methodist Church and enjoyed Williamsport High School football games, fishing, bowling and motorcycle riding.

Born August 10, 1936 in Williamsport, he was the son of Merrill and Vina Carlson Laylon.

Surviving besides his wife are a son, David E. (Carol) Laylon, Jr. of Cogan Station; a daughter, Melissa A. (Martin) Hommel of Williamsport; a stepdaughter, Barbara A. McQuillen of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a brother, Leonard L. (Judy) Laylon of BelAir, MD and seven grandchildren.

Dave was predeceased by a sister, Janice Laylon and a stepson, David Lee Heard.
