David Charles Leeper
8/9/1952-8/28/2016

Faithful husband, devoted son, endearing friend, lover of Jesus, David Charles Leeper passed away August 28, 2016. David’s final days were spent surrounded by family and friends whose lives had been touched by Dave’s whimsical sense of humor, genuine kindness, benevolent heart and unwavering faith in Jesus. As he crossed over from this life into the loving arms of Jesus, the angels rejoiced as do we that he is celebrating renewed, everlasting life.
David was born August 9, 1952 in San Antonio, TX to Lyle C. and Lila Ann Leeper. He resided in Albuquerque, NM since 1955.
David began to develop his leadership skills as an Eagle Scout. He attended Del Norte High School, graduating in 1970 and continued his education at the University of New Mexico.
David was a natural born business man and entrepreneur. Over his lifetime, he was employed by Argyle Welding Supply and he owned and operated Nova Bio Medical Supply, Inc. He was also a property owner and manager of local apartment and business complexes in Albuquerque. Dave was far more than an employer and landlord; he faithfully served the people who worked with him and leased from him, and so many became the friends who today celebrate his life. He also served as the Architectural Review Committee president for the Jemez Horseshoe Springs Cabin Association.
Whether Dave was hiking the Continental Divide with his late step-father, Ronald Hansen, scuba diving in the Caribbean, sailing in the British Virgin Islands, water skiing at Lake Powell or snow skiing in Taos, NM, he was in his element. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to be anywhere in God’s country.
One of Dave’s most recent undertakings was serving as a launch director for the International Balloon Fiesta, more commonly referred to as a Zebra, in Albuquerque. October 2015 marked his sixth year.
David’s love and commitment to Jesus was always demonstrated through his service to people. He was an active member of Del Norte Baptist church where he was leader of the singles department for many years. Most recently he was a member of New Life City, where he served as a trustee. Dave and Norma also invested their hearts in helping cultivate healthy marriages through the marriage encounter groups they led for many years. They were also host to many exchange students over the years.
David is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Norma Lee Leeper; his adoring mother, Lila Ann Hansen; two brothers, Michael and Kenneth Leeper; step-brother and sisters, Craig Hansen, Ingrid Salomonson, and Anna Lane; and nephew, Danny Underwood.
David was preceded in death by his father, Lyle Leeper and step-father, Ronald Hansen.
