David A. Kuykendall, aka Uncle Dave, left his earthly body and joined our Savior on October 27th at the age of 55. He is survived by his mom, Leona, his sister, Paula, brother-in-law, Paul, his nieces; Kaylea, Hannah and Ashley and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his dad, Pops, and his grandparents. Dave was born August 18, 1961 in Belleville, IL to Leroy and Leona. He grew up riding motorcycles and even as a young boy, he could take the bike apart and put it back together – no extra pieces, and it would still run! He attended University of Missouri for three years before he decided that he wanted to follow his gift and passion and work on cars. He had the ability to listen to a motor and could tell you what was wrong with the vehicle. He was always honest and compassionate and would help anyone in need. Dave was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer in April of 2015 and he fought long and hard to beat this ugly disease! Prior to his illness, he was actively involved at Gateway Bible church as prayer team leader and was the usher at the door every Sunday welcoming everyone. He always had a smile and a firm handshake. He was an awesome son, brother, uncle and friend. He was the kindest, most gentle man imaginable. A friend described him best saying quot;He was unwavering in his principles and ready to help anyone that he could.quot; Its a blessing that he is no longer in pain, but we lost one of the best and he will be missed…beyond words.
