David Alan Groff, 55, of 1625 Erwin St., died at 2:02 p.m. Friday (Sept. 1, 2006) at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in South Bend.
He was born May 5, 1951, in Elkhart to Chester and Alta (Powell) Groff. He married Marsha Alexander on Oct. 12, 1989, in Elkhart.
She survives, along with a daughter, Dasha (Rodney) Lamp of Elkhart; two stepsons, Scott Weyrauch of Pheonix, Ariz., and Kevin Weyrauch of North Carolina; a grandson; two sisters, Susan (Darell) Lovejoy of Ohio and Beverly (Timothy) Templeton of Elkhart; and his mother.
Mr. Groff worked in the grocery business, beginning in 1967 at Phil’s Grocery. He would go on to become the store’s manager and eventual owner.
