David Abney, 47, passed away on Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at the Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia. He had been in declining health for several months.
David was a happy, cheerful man who was always ready and willing to help a friend or a stranger. He could fix almost anything. He was lovingly referred to by his family as “our little handyman”. Most of his friends just called him “Tater”. David had many talents but his main trade was welding and painting. His number one sport was fishing and playing with his dog Rocky. Occasionally he enjoyed getting in his mother’s kitchen or firing up a grill and surprise everyone with a delicious meal. He will be greatly missed.
David is survived by his wife, Amanda; his parents, Bobby and Donna Abney of Huguley, AL; sisters, Myah Abney of Atlanta, GA and Gena Rogers of Anderson, SC; brothers, Shayne Abney (Breanna) of the Hopewell, AL Community, Trace Abney of Huguley, AL, and Robbie Abney of Anderson, SC; great aunt, Betty “Boo Boo” Mason; special close friend and her children that referred to David as “Big Daddy”, Jillian Ray and Taylor Foster & Brynlee Teague.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Jonathan Abney; grandparents, Calvin and Martha Abney and Gene and Dorothy Smith.
