SAMPSON, David
David Ambrose Sampson, Master Sergeant, USAF retired, age 87, died June 4, 2016, at the Armed Forces Retirement Home (AFRH) in Gulfport, MS. He was a resident of Fort Walton Beach, FL from October 1969 to September 2008. He entered the AFRH in Washington, DC in October 2008, and transferred to the Gulfport, MS facility in October 2010. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Betty Lou, on January 24, 1992. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marypatricia Sampson, Herndon, VA and Daniel and Kimberly Sampson, Crestview, FL; granddaughters Liliane Dean, Charlotte Court House, VA, Lauren Sampson, Somerset, KY; and grandson Nicholas Sampson, Crestview, FL; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Following four years in the Nebraska National Guard, he served 24 years in the United States Air Force, retiring June 30, 1976. Upon receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Vocational Education from the University of West Florida, and A & P Mechanic Certificate from the FAA, he taught aviation maintenance courses for Burnside-Ott Aviation Technical School, Pensacola, FL and Alabama Aviation and Technical College, Mobile, AL.
