David A. Read 79 of Whiting, NJ died on August 1, 2016 at home. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, he lived in West Milford, NJ and Monroe, NY before moving to Whiting 10 years ago. David was a veteran of the US Coast Guard and was very proud of his years of service there.
He spent his career driving trucks for Eastern Express and others. David was the historian for his local truck club chapter and contributed many articles for the Wheels of Time Magazine. His great passion was auto racing as he was an avid fan his entire life. He is survived by his loving daughter Kathryn and her husband Ernie of Naples, Florida.
