Daryl W. DeSart, 82, passed away unexpectedly on September 13, 2021 at home.
Daryl was born on July 21, 1939 in Plover, Iowa to parents, Scott and Leona DeSart. He grew up on a farm near Fenton, Iowa and graduated from Sentral High School.
In 1959, he moved to Des Moines and joined the National Guard, where he served for seven years.
On February 6, 1962 he was united in marriage to Wilma Seals. They made their home in Des Moines, where they raised four children.
Daryl worked for F. Brody and Son for 20 years, and a truck driver for Hawkeye Wood Shavings for 17 years. In 2008 he owned and operated DWD Transport Inc., which is still in operation.
Daryl enjoyed country and bluegrass music, recycling and working in his yard. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Daryl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma; four children, Cindy Babcock, Lynne (Jake) Schlief, Daryl DeSart, Jr. and Karen (John) Firestine; siblings, Don (Mary) DeSart, Donna Rae Sohn and Duane DeSart; grandchildren, James Babcock, Rick (Amy) Nutting, Chad (Tammy) Babcock, Gina Minotto, Daryl DeSart, III, Daniel (Jennie) DeSart, Melanie (Nick) Earles, Victoria (Cody) Kenyon, Brooklyn DeSart, Branden DeSart, Scott Davis, Mark Schlief and Ashley (Kaylee) Babcock; 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. As well as many nieces, nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Davis; son-in-law, Allen Babcock and a brother-in-law, Jim Sohn.
