Darryl “Mickey” Keith Emerick, 69, passed after a lengthy illness. He was born November 7, 1951 in Johnstown, PA to Helen Gail (Piper) and Jesse Saint Louis Emerick. He was raised in Cleveland, OH and attended High School there before spending a short time in the US Army.
Mickey moved to Colorado Springs in 1975 and began his career at the Western Forge Manufacturing Company and was there until his retirement. He met Roberta Jean Herrera in 1977 and they married July 7, 1979. They were married for over 41 years and had the opportunity of enjoying this past year together 24/7. He enjoyed football, the Cleveland Browns being his team. He also enjoyed watching the Nascar races and bowling, in which he was on a league for numerous years with Western Forge. His love, though, was fishing with his boys, any chance they could and always in his beloved mountains. His family was just as important to him, spending as much time with them as possible. He was also a mechanic and kept up the family vehicles. When a friend was in need, he would be there for them.
Mickey is survived by his wife, Roberta; his four children, Darryl & Karen Emerick (Kinzer), Christopher & Tanya Emerick, Daniel Emerick and Susanne Snearly; a granddaughter, Hannah Kinzer; and a great granddaughter, Sarah Kinzer. He is also survived by three siblings, Lanny, Ron and Denise & Dave Knapp. He was preceded in death by his parents, Helen & Jesse; and sisters, Joy Emerick and Margaret Young, and his sister, Sharon George, who passed just the day before him.
