Darrell K. Tielkemeier, age 83 of Davis, IL, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Medina Nursing Center in Durand, IL. He was born May 11, 1933; the son of the late Alfred Tielkemeier and Ada (Pfeil) Bouray. He had many happy years of marriage with his wife, Marcella (Lohmeier); she passed on February 3, 2002.

Darrell started out as a farmer then became a truck driver and worked in a coal mine in between trucking jobs. He became an ordained minister and founded the Chapel of the Highway ministries. He was a shoulder to cry on for many truck drivers down on their luck. He was a member of St. Paul Church of Epleyanna of Davis, IL. In his retirement years, he enjoyed working in the timber cutting wood and being close to nature. He also enjoyed playing euchre with his friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, especially teasing them. Darrell had found his peace with God and peace in life.

He is survived by his daughter, Donna (William) Althoff of North Myrtle Beach, SC, sons, Dalon (Lorilee) Tielkemeier of Davis and Merlin (Renee’) Tielkemeier of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Thomas (Heather) Althoff, Daniel (Kelly) Althoff, Megan Tielkemeier, Joshua (Danielle Coulthard) Tielkemeier, Spencer (Hailey) Tielkemeier, Carter Tielkemeier and Halle Tielkemeier; 6 great grandchildren, sisters, Neva Wilson of Rockford and Sharon (Carl) Wise of MO; brother Francis (Doris) Tielkemeier of Rock City; half-sisters, Juanita (Greg) Evans, Dodgeville, Wi, Gayle (Harlan) Boos, Rock City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Marcella; father, Alfred; mother Ada and Chet Bouray; brother Leo, sister-in-law Gladys Tielkemeier; and brother-in-law, Delbert Wilson.
