Darrell D. Rasmussen, 85, of Denver, passed away May 14, 2012 in Parker. He was born May 23, 1926 in Saronville, NE to Louis Rasmussen and Adelia Pontine. He married Margaret Ackerman on June 2, 1951 in Sutton, NE. He received his GED, alongside his wife, in 1985.
He drove trucks for Hastings Navy Base and Grand Island Ordnance Plant. He began working in carpentry in the Denver area and retired as a Journeyman Carpenter. Darrell loved to play the game of pool. He also loved fishing and pulling pranks on his family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle and Pitch, and he enjoyed chauffeuring his grandchildren to and from school on bad weather days. Darrell’s independence was important to him and he enjoyed his ability to get around by himself.
Darrell is survived by his children, Bob (Tiny) Rasmussen of Denver, Vicky (Ron) Huff of Lafayette and Debby (Dennis) Hoff of Parker; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, in 2002; step-grandson, Michael, in 2004; one sister, Doreen Fried and one brother, Harold Rasmussen.
