On February 4, 1953, she was married to Russell C. Schroeder. She was a charter member of Portage/Schoolcraft Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 3531.
Surviving are six children, Gary Schroeder of Kalamazoo, Rick (Gail) Schroeder of Mattawan, Kathy (Richard) Lounsbery of Mattawan, Mary (George) Chandler of Kalamazoo, Elmer Schroeder of Kalamazoo and Scott (Rachelle) Schroeder of Mattawan; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lou Phelps of Kalamazoo and Clara (Jerry) Snelling of Richland; two brothers, Charles (Faith) Bloomfield of Paw Paw and Benjamin (Carolyn) Bloomfield of New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband of 50 years, Russell Schroeder; two sisters, Delores Henion and Shirley Hodges; and six brothers, Donald, Richard, Ralph, William, Robert and James Bloomfield.
