Darlene M. Knight, 73, of Elkhart, passed away Sunday evening, May 8, 2011, surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 30, 1938, in Goshen to the late Edward and Catheryn (McDonald) Miller. On April 23, 1959, in Goshen, she became the bride of Roy Owen Knight. Roy passed away Nov. 17, 1990, in Elkhart.
Surviving are her son, Edward (Deborah) Knight and her daughter, Amy C. (John) Lyttaker, both of Elkhart, and her six grandchildren, Tyrone, Jennifer, Johanna, Payne and also Adam and Lance, who were special caregivers to Grandma. Also surviving are her sisters, Linda Struckel of Orange City, Fla., Elaine Reed of Elkhart and Tressa Miller of Bristol; brothers Stan Miller of Chicago, Don Miller of Manchester, Tenn., and Bill (Sheila) Miller of Orange City; and two treasured friends, Vicky Ellsworth and Gail Gunnoe.
Darlene was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Miller. Darlene was first and foremost a loving mother and grandmother and cherished time with her grandchildren and extended family. She worked for many years at ESI Meats in Bristol and at Crown International.
