It is with great sadness, the family of Darlene D. Longstreet announces her passing on Thursday, September 29, 2016 at the age of 79. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. Darlene was born in Watertown, SD on Christmas Day in 1936.
She was married to Robert J. Longstreet in 1965 until his death in 1997. She spent her early life raising her two children – Lesley L. Lee and Robert R. Longstreet – and her later life in the banking industry and then in retail. She worked for Bank of America for 15 years before retiring in 2001. Retirement did not stick, and she went to work in retail for the next 7 years, retiring for the second time in 2007.
Her father, John Sleiter; her mother, Doris Sleiter; her sister, Beverly Devine; her brother, James Sleiter; and her husband, Robert J. Longstreet, preceded Darlene in death. She is survived by her daughter, Lesley Lee and husband, James; son, Robert R. Longstreet and partner, Stephanie Baca; grandson, Samuel Longstreet; dear friend, Horace Guthrie; and her “second sister”, Shirley Bleeker.
