Dan Abrams died at home surrounded by his family, after a brave, two-year battle with cancer.

He cherished his family and leaves behind his wife, Jeanne, and five children: Margo Lopenske, Danny Abrams, Liz Wilcox, Chris Abrams and Gary Abrams, as well as his sister, Janalee Wagner and brother-in-law Harry Wagner.
He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, which he adored, as well as their special name for him “Baboo”. Dan taught at Jefferson County Schools for 30 years and was a much-loved teacher and colleague.

Dan was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on September 17, 1945 to JoAnn and Jim Abrams. He joined the Navy in 1963 and lived in California until returning to Colorado in 1969.

He graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1963, Metro State College in 1975 and received his master’s degree from Colorado University in 1983.

Dan loved family, friends, golf, and playing cards and had a knack for enjoying life. He appreciated puzzles and silly puns and jokes. Dan treasured spending time at the family cabin in Red Feather Lakes, just kicking back.
