Daniel Ruben Fernández, 64, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg. ‘Dany’ (Che/Cuca, his nicknames) was the devoted husband of Elsa (Merlo) Fernández, with whom he shared over 5 years of engagement and 37 years of loving marriage. Born and raised in Mendoza, Argentina, he was the son of the late Antonio and Sara (Murgo) Fernández. Dany began his career in the Trucking Industry when he was just 18 years old. He was a Senior, Long-Haul Truck Driver and also proudly owned and operated his own company: M.E.D. Transport, Inc. Dany had a complete zest for life, loved to travel, and make wonderful memories. He enjoyed the adrenaline rush of driving trucks, cars, motorcycles, and so much more. Being an avid Formula 1 Racing, MotoGP, and Argentine motorsports fan, Dany never missed watching his favorite races on Sundays.
He was a lover of life, family, and friendships, and his constant smile and laughter will live on as his eternal memory. His outgoing, funny, and witty personality allowed him to touch the lives of everyone he met. Dany’s constant guidance, selfless demeanor, loyal compassion, and hardworking spirit embodied who he was. He was the pillar of strength and love for his family, the light of their lives, and now their constant Angel. Dany will be remembered as a loving husband and inseparable companion, a devoted and caring father, and a loyal friend to all.
Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Elsa, he will be remembered by his daughter, María Sol Fernández-Merlo, as well as his family in Argentina, and his loving friends, many of whom are fellow truck drivers.
