Daniel “Dan” Mattingly was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 7, 1955 to Donald Jessie and Virginia (Knese) Mattingly, both deceased. Dan’s oldest brother Thomas J. Mattingly is also deceased. They are all together now with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger because You are with me. Your rod and Your staff – they protect me (Psalm 23:4).”

Dan is survived by his older brother, David M. Mattingly (wife, Jo Ann) and their children, Michael (wife, Lauren), Laura (husband, Alex), Brian, and Elizabeth; his younger sister, Mary (Mattingly) Senkosky (husband, John), and their children, Madeline (Senkosky) Volk, (husband, Stephen), Katherine, and Jacqueline; and his youngest sister, Catherine (Mattingly) Davis. He was a loving son, grandson, nephew, brother, brother in-law, uncle, great uncle and friend to many.

Dan was an amazing athlete during high school, enjoying ice hockey and baseball in particular. He graduated from St. Louis University, and went on to complete flight school at Parks College. Daniel began his career as a marketing and sales representative for Hunter Engineering Company, St. Louis, MO. He was an avid fan and supporter of the St. Louis Baseball Cardinals, which became his passion in his older years.

Dan was the most compassionate and benevolent dog lover of Shadow, Chrissy, Sam, Candy, Shane, Whitie, Ned, Scooter, and Suzie (and her puppies). He loved all of his parents’, brothers’ and sisters’ dogs and cats, and treated all animals with such kindness and respect! Rest in the Lord’s peace Dan, you are “Safely Home,” with Mom and Dad, and Tom, and the loving pets and animals who adored you. We will miss you. We loved and will always love you!
Amen.
