Daniel Philip Dayton (June 5, 1959 – November 22, 2020) of Pasadena, MD, passed away November 22, 2020 due to diabetes complications. Dan was preceded in death by his beloved parents Jessie Vivian (nee Gruwell) and Orlo Hazen Dayton, and brother, Jonathan Robert. Dan is survived by his treasured daughter, Damara Grace Dayton of College Park, MD, and brothers, David Bayard (Kathy) of Pasadena, Stephen William (Patricia) of Millersville, and sisters, Judith Carrie Miskill (Craig) of Colorado, Candace Elizabeth (Robert Lockard) of Glen Burnie, and Faith Anne Perry (Richard) of Linthicum, former wife, Linda (nee Perman) Lonsbury, along with cousins, many cherished nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Dan grew up in Linthicum and graduated from Andover High School in 1977, where he played football and lacrosse. As a child, Dan was always active in church and community sports. As a young man, when most knew him as “Chiz,” Dan was always coordinating whiffle ball games around the pool, golf weekends, pick-up basketball and softball, to get his friends together to most importantly, laugh. Dan had a joyful soul and a gentle, loving heart. He had no capacity to turn down a call for help even when he had nothing to give. Dan served the Lord and found greatest value when working to lift up those who he felt he could help, especially children. As an adult, Dan ran a weekly bible study group with troubled and incarcerated youth at the Waxter Children Center, and most enjoyed coaching Upward youth basketball at Faith Baptist Church in Glen Burnie. Dan was always his daughter’s sports teams’ honorary team Dad.
