Daniel Ned Fortado, 68, of Jacksonville, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Passavant Area Hospital.

He was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Jacksonville, the son of Daniel and Helen C. Scott Fortado. He married Dorothy “Dody” Rice on Oct. 3, 1964, in Jacksonville and she survives.

He is also survived by three daughters, Debbie (David) Moody of Glen Ellyn, Dana (Craig) Green of River Forest, and Dena (Kenneth) Dobson of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Samantha and Andrew Moody, Paige (Dylan) Lowder, and Colin and Addie Dobson; and four brothers and sisters, Becky (Walt) Cederholm of Hilton Head, SC, Ronald Fortado and Jim Fortado, both of Jacksonville, and Regina (Rich) Doering of Springfield.

Mr. Fortado was a 1962 graduate of Jacksonville High School and then attended Illinois College. He was a Department Manager at Jack’s in Jacksonville for many years, and then worked for Byers International Trucks. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church and Jacksonville Moose Lodge. Dan enjoyed playing cards and the time he spent with his “Poker Buddies”. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
