Daniel Martin, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away on Thursday, December 1st, 2022, at the age of 85. He was born in Halfway, Oregon, on December 4th 1936, to Robert and Z. Pearl Martin. After graduating from High School, he moved to Nampa, ID, to attend Northwest Nazarene College. He majored in Education and History. During his college years, he enjoyed time spent playing basketball, helping to bring many victories to the Crusader basketball team. While at NNC, he met and married the love of his life, Rosemary Aman, wife of 63 years.
Dan, started his teaching career in Payette, ID. He settled a few years later in Nyssa, OR, as a teacher for 4 years and then Middle School Principal for 23 years. He loved sports and assisted with the school athletics program as well.
After retiring, from the Nyssa School District, Dan and Rosemary moved to Nampa, ID. Shortly thereafter, he started teaching again, at Nampa Christian Schools. Soon he found himself as Principal (again) and then School Superintendent. Retiring once more, Northwest Nazarene University, contacted him, desiring he work for them, promoting their Continuing Education program, which he accepted. This provided travel opportunities which he and Rosemary enjoyed.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Z. Pearl Martin, and wife, Rosemary Martin. He is survived by his sister, Joanne Marks, of Boise, ID, brother, Terry Martin and his wife Bev, of Meridian, ID; two children; daughter, Melanie (Martin) Johnson and her husband Ernest Johnson, and son, David Martin, all of Nampa, ID. He is also survived by four grandchildren; Camille Johnson, of Nampa, ID, Bethany Johnson, of Caldwell, ID, Jacob Johnson, Mapleton, OR, and Christopher Martin and wife Niki, of Nampa, ID; and one great-grandchild, Sophia Rose, daughter of Bethany.
Dan is also survived by his Uncle, Phil Martin and wife Woody, of Nampa, ID, Sister-in-law Linda Aman, of Nyssa, OR, and Brother-in-law, Wesley Aman and his wife Joanie, of Leavenworth, WA.
Dan was an exemplary individual who valued his faith in Jesus Christ, his family and his friends. All that knew him appreciated the fact that he was genuinely interested in their lives and concerned for their souls. He loved the Lord and served Him faithfully.
