Daniel James Kinney, born September 27, 1978 in Ft. Polk, LA, was called from his home in Boise, ID on the morning of November 25, 2014, to his forever home in Heaven at the young age of 36. In life, he was a student, a teacher, and a friend to many. Dan loved school and had a passion for reading and learning new ideas. He was always willing to talk or debate over anything, from profound academic ideas, to politics, to philosophy and life, in general. He offered his opinions and his advice unapologetically and honestly. Dan was also known for his genuine smile and famous bear hugs, which were both given without reserve. He was a big brother to everyone he met and he always pushed those he loved to succeed, to move forward, and to become better versions of themselves. When his studies took him abroad, to Korea, his influence extended to other exchange students so that now, people from all over the world call him friend and brother. Along with the many people Dan has picked up along his life’s journey, he is survived by his mother & stepfather: Kathy & Steven Fencl; his father & stepmother: James & LaVonne Kinney; his brothers: Joseph Kinney and Matthew Fencl; his sisters, Kristina Whitaker and Anna Fencl; and his niece, Kaitlyn Whitaker, as well as multitude of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends. Whatever the official relationship was, he was always a brother, in the truest sense of the word. We will all miss our big brother, Dan, and as he would say at the end of his messages- *HUGS*
