Daniel George Collins, son of George Melvin Collins and Margretta Ann Walker Collins, was born on July 28, 1943 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. “Dan” as he was affectionately called along with his brother, Ronnie grew up in the small town of Fruitland, MD. In 1960, he enlisted in the US Army, where he met and later married, Sharron Kay Dale of Colorado Springs, Colorado. To this union they were blessed with one daughter, Angela.
