Daniel “Buba” Basil, 61, of Oglesby, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2019 at The University of Chicago Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Danny was born January 30, 1958 in LaSalle to George and Shirley (Peterlin) Basil. He attended LaSalle-Peru Township High School and was Senior Class President and member of the FUBAR club.
He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and watching wildlife at Starved Rock. He was an avid Chicago White Sox, Chicago Blackhawks and Chicago Bears fan and an active member of the catholic church.
Danny is survived by his brothers Dennis (Tracy) Basil of Oglesby and Bill (Linda) Basil of Mendota; brother-in-law Jerome Bima of Oglesby; nieces and nephews, Gerri Lynn (Keith) Pearse of Peru, Tammy (Jennifer) Bima of Chicago, Mike (Kim) Bima of Oglesby, Gina Bima of Oglesby, David (Phil) Lowe-Bima of Chicago, Andrea Bima of Oglesby, Brian (Melissa) Basil of Mendota, Shelli (Basil) Billhorn of LaMoille and great nieces and nephews, Mallory, Dominic, Sam and Joe Bima, Madison and Chase Billhorn, Nicholas Pearse, Reis and Carsyn Hartford. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George Ronald Basil and one sister, Georgia Bima.Pallbearers will be Chico Perez, Vince Brolley, Roy Greening, William “Mike” Gunderson, Gary Peterlin, Sheila Powell and honorary pallbearer Ronald Peterlin.
